Professor Cody Teaches Kids to Code Competition 2022 – Instructions for Coders
  • Complete Professor Cody Teaches Kids to Code Lessons 1 to 6 (including all activities). These free video tutorials are available on YouTube or alternatively, the Professor Cody Teaches Kids to Code book is available on Amazon.
  • Make your own game using Scratch that has a Climate Change theme.
  • Your game must use sequences, selection, iteration, variables, lists and broadcasts.
  • It must have a maximum of FIVE sprites and not use cloning.
  • It must include a Higher Scorer List, so that you know who’s winning your game.
  • Remember - The coder who makes the winning game will receive $100 gift voucher!

Professor Cody Teaches Kids to Code Competition 2022 – Instructions for Teachers
  • Start by watching the introduction to the competition 2022 video (above).
  • Download the competition poster.
  • All entrants must be currently in Grade 6 (or equivalent) studying at a US school.  
  • Students' must complete Professor Cody Teaches Kids to Code lesson 1 - 6 (including all activities). They can do this using the free video YouTube tutorials or you can purchase the student worksheets and teacher PowerPoints. Alternatively, the Professor Cody Teaches Kids to Code book as now available on Amazon.
  • Students must then make their own original scratch game that uses sequences, selection, iteration, variables, lists and broadcasts.
  • To enter the competition a teacher from the school must complete the registration form.  
  • The winning student will receive $100 gift voucher (kid's choice card)
  • The winning school will receive a $200 voucher to spend on the Edulito website.
  • The registered teacher must submit their entries by Friday 1st July.
Terms and Conditions
 
1. Entry rules. 
It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final, and that the participant agrees to abide by these terms.
 
2. Eligibility. 
Any student studying at a US school, who is in Grade 6 (or equivalent) as of 1st January 2022 is eligible to enter the competition. The game entered by the student must be individually produced and original. Teachers are responsible for ensuring this.
 
3. Entries 
Entry into the competition is free. registration to participate in the competition can only be made via the internet.  Entrants will create a game using the coding program scratch. all versions of the scratch software will be accepted. 
 
4. Competition Judging
The competition entries will be judged by Edulito based on their originality, correspondence to this year’s theme (Climate Change), quality of the game play and the range of coding techniques used (sequences, selection, iteration, variables, lists and broadcasts).
 
5. Deadline
Competition entries received by 1st July 2022 will be judged for the final awards. 
 
6. Publicity
The winning school and student have the right to publicise their win. Edulito will name the winning school and the first name of the winning student through their website and will send an email to all schools that have entered the competition informing them of the winning school and the first name of the winning student. 
 
7. Confidentiality & Data Protection 
In submitting the registration form to the coding competition you are giving permission for the organisers to contact you. They undertake to keep your information securely and not to provide it to anyone else. 
 
8. Complaints 
The organisers are willing to investigate any complaints to ensure that their high standards are maintained. 
 
9. Notice 
The organisers shall not be liable for any injury, loss or damage to persons or property arising directly or indirectly from the competition. all decisions and outcomes of the competition are made in good faith and shall be considered final and binding. ​
